TAB Venue Odds Displays
About
The TAB Digtial Venue Displays were designed to replace teletext and wasteful paper sheets that were used in venues and pubs since the 1960s.
The Design
Taking inspiration from airport departure screens, we consulted with numerous TAB retail and pub venues on delivering a modern display solution for odds display.
Numerous design challenges were considered in the layout, including colour theory and readability.
We iterated many times before selecting a high contrast, white on black design, designed to be readable from 8 metres distance on 32" monitor, almost triple the distance of the teletext solution. The black background also ensured consistency between monitors of different brand/ages
For Races with more than 9 Runners we introduced pagination so text would not shrink or become unreadable like the exisiting solution.
Since launch, this solution has been expanded to over 1000 venues across NSW
